The class went to West Lake on the morning of October 3rd. It was a chance for us to dip our toes in the water of Walking Curriculum. It was one of many of our exercises in place-based learning. We started the morning with quiet meditation and contemplation about our relationship with the water. The connection each of us had to the land and water was unique and special.
Then, each pair was given a prompt and after some time were asked to switch with another group. The two activities that my group had are pictured below.
This was very useful to experience the Walking Curriculum as a student/learner first rather than just jumping right on in to incorporate it in my lessons. I am definitely adding this to my toolbox for future lessons! It was such a blast and the prompts were interpreted differently by the groups so it was refreshing to hear what different people got out of the experience in the sharing circle at the end.
